More than 20 agencies are going to be on hand to visit with the students and to tell them about upcoming Texas Scholar volunteer opportunities.

Texas Scholars is a program open to students in 9th through 12th grade in Odessa that enables them to volunteer at approved local organizations. By the time the student graduates, they will have at least 50 volunteer hours of community service within Ector County, making them eligible for the Texas Scholar graduation cord, along with a potential scholarship at Odessa College and UT Permian Basin.

This program also motivates youth to become productive students, employees and citizens through the support and involvement in the business community. The program has now expanded to include ECISD, Compass Academy and Richard Milburn.

Since the inception of the Texas Scholar program back in 1997, participating agencies have benefitted from 323,373 volunteer hours from participating students.
